Day-by-Day Itinerary
Depart Fes early and travel south through Imouzzer to Ifrane, a town of European architectural character set in the Middle Atlas. Continue through the cedar forest, stop for lunch in Midelt, and follow the Ziz River gorge into the pre-Saharan south. Arrive at Merzouga in the afternoon for a camel ride into the dunes, a sunset over Erg Chebbi, and an overnight stay at a luxury desert camp.
Rise before dawn to witness the Sahara sunrise, then enjoy breakfast before a full day of regional exploration. Visit an ancient kohl mine, meet nomadic families in their traditional tents, and attend a Gnaoua music session in Khamlia village. The afternoon includes a walk through palm groves and a visit to the wild Merzouga lake before returning to the hotel.
After breakfast, head to Rissani, the historic capital of the Tafilalet region, to browse its traditional souk. Proceed to Erfoud to observe fossilized marble craftsmanship, then drive through palm groves to reach the towering Todra Gorges.
