Seven Churches of Asia Minor: Smyrna, Pergamon, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, Laodicea and Ephesus
A five-day small-group journey tracing the footsteps of the Book of Revelation across western Anatolia.
The Seven Churches of Asia Minor Tour is a carefully structured five-day itinerary designed for travelers seeking to experience the biblical and historical landscapes of western Turkey in a personal, small-group setting. Limited to a maximum of ten participants, the program pairs scholarly context with comfortable four- and five-star accommodations and a dedicated Bible-oriented guide throughout.
Each site visited corresponds directly to one of the seven churches addressed in the Book of Revelation, offering a rare opportunity to stand in locations specifically named in scripture. From the acropolis heights of Pergamon to the ancient waterways of Laodicea, the physical remains illuminate the textual record in ways that no classroom study can replicate.
Beyond the biblical itinerary, the tour incorporates significant archaeological and early Christian heritage sites, including the House of the Virgin Mary near Ephesus and the thermal terraces of Hierapolis. The route moves logically across the Aegean hinterland, minimizing transit fatigue while maximizing the depth of each encounter.
Tour Highlights
Visit all seven churches of Revelation — Smyrna, Pergamon, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, Laodicea and Ephesus — in a single coherent itinerary.
Small-group format capped at ten travelers ensures attentive, personalized service and flexible pacing at each site.
A professional Bible-oriented guide accompanies the group throughout, providing historical, scriptural, and archaeological commentary.
Centrally located four- and five-star hotels, four breakfasts and four dinners, and all entrance fees are included in the program.
Explore the ancient city of Ephesus, one of the best-preserved Greco-Roman urban sites in the world, including the Temple of Artemis, once a Wonder of the Ancient World.
Walk the calcium terraces of Hierapolis-Pamukkale, where mineral-rich thermal waters cascade over natural limestone pools above the ancient city.
Visit the House of the Virgin Mary on the slopes of Aladag Mountain near Ephesus, a recognized pilgrimage site visited by Pope Paul VI in 1967.
Itinerary Overview
A representative meets arriving guests at Izmir Airport and transfers the group to the hotel. The evening is free to rest and orient before the program begins.
The day opens with a drive to Pergamon, where the group explores the Acropolis and the Asklepieion, and views the Altar of Zeus — referenced in Revelation as the Throne of Satan. The route continues to Thyatira before a panoramic tour of Smyrna concludes the day ahead of dinner and overnight in Izmir.
An early departure leads to Sardis, followed by Philadelphia (modern Alasehir), the only church of the seven that received no censure in Revelation. The day ends at Laodicea, where the ancient theater, basilica remains and stone water pipes are examined.
The group visits Hierapolis and the thermal cascades of Pamukkale before driving to Ephesus, where the Arcadian Way, the Theater, the Nymphaion and the Temple of Apollo are among the featured sites. The House of the Virgin Mary and the Basilica of St. John are also visited, followed by a stop at the Temple of Artemis en route to the overnight in Kusadasi.
Guests are collected from the Kusadasi hotel and transferred privately to Izmir Airport for onward travel. No sites are scheduled on the final day.
