Departing from your hotel or riad in Fes, the route climbs into the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping first at Ifrane with its distinctive European-style architecture, then continuing through the cedar forests around Azrou where Barbary macaques roam freely. The journey passes through Midelt for a lunch break before descending into the dramatic Ziz Valley, with its towering palm groves and gorges, arriving in Merzouga by late afternoon for dinner and an overnight stay in a traditional kasbah.

The morning is dedicated to the historic town of Rissani, where the lively souk, ancient kasbahs, and the ruins of Sijilmassa offer a layered picture of Saharan trade history. The afternoon brings a visit to Khamlia village for a Gnawa music performance, followed by free time in Merzouga for optional activities such as quad biking or sandboarding before returning to your accommodation for the evening.
