          Korcula is a small island town in the Dubrovnik-Neretva County of southern Croatia, in the Adriatic region.           Korcula is an island and municipality in Dubrovnik-Neretva County, southern Dalmatia, Croatia, situated in the Adriatic Sea between the Peljesac Peninsula and the open sea. The island spans approximately 47 kilometres in length and is one of the most densely forested islands in the Adriatic. The old town, occupying a fortified peninsula on the northeastern tip, has been continually inhabited since antiquity and represents one of the best-preserved medieval urban ensembles in the eastern Adriatic.
