As you continue on, you’ll reach Campo Santa Margherita, a picturesque square surrounded by stunning 14th-century palaces and the charming little church of Santa Margherita, now an auditorium for the nearby university.

Next, visit the San Rocco School in the square bearing the same name, a charitable institution founded in 1478. They built the current building in the 16th century, which showcases a series of stunning paintings by Tintoretto.

Nearby, you’ll find the Church of San Rocco, which is also dedicated to the saint. Continue on to the Scuola Grande di S.Giovanni Evangelista, a confraternity founded in 1307.

In 1481, the Bottega dei Lombardi built the impressive Renaissance-style gateway, and Mauro Codussi rebuilt the great internal staircase in 1512. After being suppressed in 1806, the confraternity was acquired by private individuals in 1856 and remains active today.
