Tropea is a coastal town in the Vibo Valentia province of Calabria, southern Italy, situated on a sandstone cliff above the Tyrrhenian Sea at approximately 38.67 degrees north, 15.90 degrees east. The town is administratively part of the Calabria region and is recognized for its protected red onion (Cipolla Rossa di Tropea IGP) and the Santa Maria dell'Isola sanctuary.
