Sosua is a coastal town in Puerto Plata Province on the northern shore of the Dominican Republic, situated between Puerto Plata city to the west and Cabarete to the east along the Amber Coast. The town gained international recognition after 1940 when the Trujillo government invited European Jewish refugees to settle and farm the area, a history preserved in the local museum and synagogue. Today it functions as a mid-sized tourist hub with strong infrastructure for diving, water sports, and independent travel, serving as a practical base for exploring the broader north coast region.
