Tour Itinerary
Begin near the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, the largest of its kind in Washington DC. The memorial was built in 1922 to honor Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States and the leader who abolished slavery.
Walk to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, one of the most visited monuments in the city. Nearby, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, inaugurated in 1995, pays tribute to those who served between 1950 and 1953.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial stands as a powerful symbol of the civil rights movement in the United States. Adjacent to it, the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial honors the 32nd President, who guided the nation through the Great Depression and World War II.
The Tidal Basin is an artificial pond created in the 1880s, and it frames one of the tour's most scenic viewpoints. The Jefferson Memorial, completed in 1943, honors the 3rd President and features several of his quotations engraved on its walls.
The Washington Monument is one of the most recognized landmarks in the capital, built to honor the first president. To its east, the Holocaust Memorial Museum, opened in 1993 and designed by architect James Ingo Freed, presents documents, objects, and research from one of history's darkest periods.
The final stretch of the circuit brings you to the White House, Lafayette Square, and the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, an 1871 structure built in French Second Empire style. The loop also passes through the Pershing Park, established in 1981, before returning to the starting area.
