Segway Tour Salzburg: City, Mountain and Castle
Glide through the Old Town, up the Mönchsberg, and across to Mirabell Gardens — all in two hours.
This Segway tour Salzburg is the only experience of its kind in the city, combining the medieval Old Town, a mountain ascent, and a riverside finish into a single, effortless two-hour ride. A knowledgeable guide keeps things lively and concise, delivering the essential story of Salzburg without drawn-out monologues. You arrive at the end with a clear sense of the city and a shortlist of places worth revisiting on foot.
Salzburg is compact but hilly, and covering it on foot in limited time means hard choices between the cathedral quarter, the fortress hill, and the river promenade. A Segway removes that trade-off entirely, letting the route do the work while you focus on what you are seeing. The pace is comfortable enough for first-time riders and engaging enough for those who have been on one before.
The itinerary is built around the sights that define Salzburg — the baroque squares, the mountain viewpoints, the fortress silhouette, and the gardens that appeared in some of the most recognisable scenes from The Sound of Music. Each stop is chosen for impact rather than completeness, giving you the orientation you need to explore further at your own pace.

Tour Itinerary
The tour begins on the lively Linzer Gasse before heading to the Salzach River and crossing via the Staatsbrücke bridge. The riverside path leads directly toward the heart of the Old Town.
Arriving at Mozart Square marks the entrance to Salzburg's UNESCO-listed Old Town. The route passes through the Old Market Square, University Square, Hofstallgasse, Cathedral Square and Kapitel Square — a sequence of baroque spaces that together tell the story of the city's architectural heritage.
The Segway makes light work of the climb up the Mönchsberg, one of the rocky hills that give Salzburg its distinctive skyline. The route passes directly alongside Hohensalzburg Fortress, one of the largest and best-preserved medieval castles in the German-speaking world.
At the top of the Mönchsberg, the guide leads the group to the Richterhöhe viewpoint and the terrace of the Museum of Modern Art. From here, around 1,000 rooftops spread across the valley below, with the Alps forming the backdrop.
Descending from the mountain, the route threads through narrow medieval alleys before rejoining the Salzach River. A cycle along the riverside provides a quieter, scenic transition toward the final destination.
The tour concludes at Mirabell Castle and its formally landscaped gardens, which featured prominently in The Sound of Music. After a photo stop, the group returns to the starting point.
