Rappelling Circuit in Sintra: 100-Metre Descent at Cabo da Roca
A half-day of vertical adventure along one of Portugal's most dramatic coastlines.
This rappelling circuit in Sintra takes you to the cliffs of Espinhaço do Cão, a rugged stretch of coast within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park where the Atlantic meets ancient rock faces rising more than 100 metres above the sea. Guided by certified instructors, participants descend sheer cliff walls while taking in unobstructed views of the ocean and the park's distinctive coastal flora.
The circuit is set against the backdrop of Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of continental Europe, an area known for its dramatic scenery and raw natural character. The route combines technical rope work with exposure to some of the most visually striking terrain in the Lisbon region.
This experience is rated challenging and requires a level of physical fitness suited to sustained outdoor activity. Participants should be comfortable with heights and prepared for a demanding morning or afternoon in a natural environment with no urban infrastructure nearby.
Safety equipment is provided and all descents are conducted under the supervision of experienced guides familiar with the specific conditions of this coastline. The experience is designed for those seeking genuine outdoor challenge rather than a leisure walk.
