Petra Tour from Sharm by Cruise
Cross the Gulf of Aqaba by ferry and walk through the rose-red city carved into the mountains of Jordan.
This full-day journey takes you from Sharm El Sheikh across the Gulf of Aqaba to explore Petra, Jordan, one of the most extraordinary archaeological sites on the planet and a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has stood for over two thousand years.
Departing early from your hotel, you travel by air-conditioned vehicle to Taba, where a ferry crossing over the Gulf of Aqaba brings you to the Jordanian port of Aqaba. From there, the road leads directly to the ancient Nabataean capital, giving you a full afternoon to take in its scale and craftsmanship.
The site unfolds gradually, beginning with a horse ride to the entrance of the Siq, a natural rock canyon stretching 1.2 kilometres through towering sandstone walls. At the far end, the Treasury emerges in extraordinary detail, introducing a city that extends far beyond its most photographed facade.
Beyond the Treasury, the route continues through the Facades Street, past the Roman Theatre, the Royal Tombs, the colonnaded street and Qasr al-Bint. Lunch is provided on site before the return journey by ferry to Taba and back to Sharm El Sheikh.

Your group is assisted through the Taba border crossing before boarding the ferry across the Gulf of Aqaba. The cruise arrives at the Jordanian port of Aqaba, from which you continue by road to Petra.
A short horse ride brings you to the entrance of the Siq, a 1.2-kilometre natural canyon flanked by walls of carved sandstone. The walk through the canyon reveals statues, votive niches and centuries of craftsmanship before opening onto the Treasury.
Continue along the Facades Street to the Roman Theatre, the Royal Tombs, the Roman colonnaded street and Qasr al-Bint. A included lunch is served at the site to allow time for rest before the return journey begins.
