Day Tour from Sharm El Sheikh

Petra Tour from Sharm by Cruise

Cross the Gulf of Aqaba by ferry and walk through the rose-red city carved into the mountains of Jordan.

This full-day journey takes you from Sharm El Sheikh across the Gulf of Aqaba to explore Petra, Jordan, one of the most extraordinary archaeological sites on the planet and a UNESCO World Heritage Site that has stood for over two thousand years.

Departing early from your hotel, you travel by air-conditioned vehicle to Taba, where a ferry crossing over the Gulf of Aqaba brings you to the Jordanian port of Aqaba. From there, the road leads directly to the ancient Nabataean capital, giving you a full afternoon to take in its scale and craftsmanship.

The site unfolds gradually, beginning with a horse ride to the entrance of the Siq, a natural rock canyon stretching 1.2 kilometres through towering sandstone walls. At the far end, the Treasury emerges in extraordinary detail, introducing a city that extends far beyond its most photographed facade.

Beyond the Treasury, the route continues through the Facades Street, past the Roman Theatre, the Royal Tombs, the colonnaded street and Qasr al-Bint. Lunch is provided on site before the return journey by ferry to Taba and back to Sharm El Sheikh.

Tour Highlights

Walk through the legendary Siq canyon and arrive at the iconic Treasury facade, carved directly into rose-red sandstone cliffs.

Sail across the Gulf of Aqaba on a ferry, connecting Egypt and Jordan in a scenic crossing between two countries.

Explore the Roman Theatre, Royal Tombs and the colonnaded street that reveal the layered history of Nabataean and Roman occupation.

Ride on horseback to the entrance of the Siq, a natural crack in the mountains that forms the dramatic gateway to the city.

Visit a UNESCO World Heritage Site recognised as one of the most significant archaeological discoveries of the ancient world.

See Qasr al-Bint, one of the few freestanding structures remaining in Petra, once a grand Nabataean temple complex.
