Tour Itinerary
The tour begins at the Eiffel Tower, where your guide introduces the Champ de Mars and the prestigious French Military School that frames the esplanade. From this vantage point, the silhouette of Notre-Dame Cathedral is visible in the distance.
Riders pass the golden dome of Les Invalides, originally constructed as a military hospital under Louis XIV. The complex now houses the tomb of Napoleon I and a significant military history museum.
The guide covers the Arc de Triomphe, commissioned by Napoleon to honor French military victories and completed in 1836. The monument stands at the convergence of twelve grand avenues and marks the site of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, established after the Armistice of 1918.
The route crosses two celebrated Seine bridges. The Pont du Carrousel links the section of the Louvre where Louis XIV held the Grand Carousel, while the Pont des Arts connects to the Palais des Arts wing and is recognized worldwide for its padlocks.
The group passes the Musee d'Orsay, a Beaux-Arts railway station converted into a museum in 1986. It holds one of the world's largest collections of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works, including paintings by Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet.
The smallest of three arches on Paris's historic axis, the Arc du Carrousel commemorates Napoleonic victories and provides a direct sightline toward La Defense. Your guide also references the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the hill of Montmartre, where the first bishop of Paris is said to have been martyred.
