Cross the desert to walk among the temples and tombs of ancient Egypt's most celebrated pharaohs.
This Luxor day trip from Hurghada takes you on a 15-hour journey through some of the most significant archaeological sites in the world, guided by a qualified Egyptologist who brings the stories of the pharaohs to life at every stop.
Traveling by air-conditioned vehicle across the Eastern Desert, you reach Luxor and immediately step into a landscape shaped by more than three thousand years of history. The east bank receives you first, where the colossal ruins of Karnak Temple stand as a testament to centuries of construction and devotion to the gods Amun, Mut, and Khonsu.

The day rounds out with a meal at a quality local restaurant in Luxor, offering a genuine introduction to Egyptian cuisine before the return drive to Hurghada.

Itinerary
Your Egyptologist guide and driver collect you from your Hurghada hotel for an early departure. The air-conditioned vehicle crosses the Eastern Desert, arriving at Luxor after approximately three to four hours on the road.
Your first stop on the east bank is the vast Karnak Temple complex, dedicated to the Theban triad of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. The Hypostyle Hall alone contains 134 massive columns and remains the largest columned hall of any religious building in the world. Your guide narrates the layers of construction added by successive pharaohs over nearly 2,000 years of active worship.
Crossing to the west bank, the group enters the Valley of the Kings, a desert necropolis containing 63 royal tombs cut into the limestone cliffs. The tomb of Tutankhamun, discovered largely intact in 1922, still holds the young king's gilded sarcophagus and original funerary accessories. Hieroglyphic texts lining the tomb walls narrate the king's journey through the underworld.
The temple Queen Hatshepsut described as the most sacred of sacred places consists of three terraced courtyards rising 30 meters against the natural cliff face. Painted reliefs across the colonnaded walls document her divine birth, her legendary expedition to the land of Punt, and her role as pharaoh. Pairs of stone lions flank the long ramps connecting each terrace.
Two seated granite statues of Amenhotep III, each reaching approximately 18 meters in height, mark the entrance to his ruined mortuary temple on the west bank. Dedication texts carved on the throne columns identify the pharaoh, while smaller figures carved at the legs of the statues represent his Great Royal Wife Tiye and his mother Mutemwiya.
The group dines at a well-regarded local restaurant in Luxor, with the menu drawing from traditional Egyptian cuisine. After lunch, the vehicle departs for the return journey across the desert, arriving back at Hurghada hotels in the evening.
