Luxor Day Trip from Hurghada: Valley of the Kings, Karnak Temple and More
Step into the world's greatest open-air museum in a single extraordinary day.
This Luxor day trip from Hurghada takes you on a privately guided journey through more than three thousand years of history, from the royal burial chambers of the West Bank to the monumental temple complex of Karnak on the East Bank. Travelling by private air-conditioned vehicle, you will cover the four-hour desert road from the Red Sea coast and arrive in Luxor ready to explore at your own pace.
The itinerary is designed to move logically between the two banks of the Nile, allowing you to absorb the scale and atmosphere of each site without the pressure of a large group. A private Egyptologist guide accompanies you throughout the day, providing context that transforms carved stone and painted walls into vivid historical narratives.
A midday break at a local Luxor restaurant gives you time to rest before crossing to the East Bank, where the afternoon is devoted to the vast temple precinct of Karnak. The day concludes with a comfortable return transfer to your hotel in Hurghada.

Itinerary
Your private air-conditioned vehicle collects you from your Hurghada hotel in the early morning. The drive across the Eastern Desert takes approximately four hours, arriving in Luxor in time to begin your West Bank exploration.
Cross the Nile to the West Bank and enter the Valley of the Kings, the final resting place of Egypt's rulers from the 18th to the 20th dynasty. The painted decoration inside many of the tombs remains remarkably well preserved after more than three thousand years.
Visit the terraced mortuary temple of Hatshepsut, one of ancient Egypt's most effective rulers, who governed as pharaoh for nineteen years. Continue to the Colossi of Memnon, the two colossal quartzite statues that are the sole surviving remnants of Amenhotep III's once-vast mortuary complex.
Take a midday break at a local restaurant in Luxor, included in your tour. This rest period prepares you for the afternoon's East Bank discoveries.
Spend the afternoon at the Temple of Karnak, a 247-acre religious precinct representing centuries of construction by successive pharaohs. Wander among stone papyrus columns, hieroglyph-covered walls, and towering obelisks in what is considered the largest temple complex ever built by human hands.
Your private vehicle returns you to Hurghada after your visit to Karnak, completing the approximately four-hour desert drive back to your hotel.
