Stargazing Safari Adventure by Jeep with Bedouin Dinner — Hurghada
An off-road desert journey ending beneath a universe of stars, shared over candlelight and Bedouin hospitality.
This stargazing safari in Hurghada combines a 33-kilometre off-road jeep ride through Egypt's Eastern Desert with camel trekking, a Bedouin dinner, and a guided observation session through one of the region's most powerful telescopes.
The afternoon begins with hotel pickup before the group heads deep into the rocky desert terrain, far from the coastal light pollution that normally obscures the night sky. The shift from golden-hour dunes to a star-filled canopy is one of the most striking transitions travellers report on this route.
A professional astronomer leads the telescope session, guiding guests through distant galaxies and visible planets in a clear, accessible way. The experience is designed to be approachable for all ages and requires no prior knowledge of astronomy.
Tour Highlights
33-kilometre jeep crossing through the hills and mountains east of Hurghada, reaching a remote Bedouin camp.
Camel ride at the camp, offering a traditional mode of desert travel before the evening programme begins.
Bedouin tent hospitality including herbal tea, handmade bread, and a look at traditional carpet and jewellery craftsmanship.
Desert sunset viewed from the camp, providing a natural transition into the candlelit dinner and stargazing programme.
Guided astronomy session using a MAEDA high-magnification telescope, with real telescope imagery of planets and deep-sky objects.
Barbecue dinner prepared by a Bedouin host in the open desert, served under a candlelit atmosphere away from crowds.
Optional quad bike upgrade available for guests who prefer an alternative arrival experience before the stargazing session.
How the Tour Unfolds
Your guide collects you from your Hurghada hotel in the early afternoon. The group then travels by jeep across 33 kilometres of rugged desert terrain, passing through hills and rocky mountain passes toward the remote camp.
On arrival at camp, guests mount camels for a short ride across the surrounding terrain. Afterward, everyone gathers in the Bedouin tent for herbal tea and freshly made bread, accompanied by a demonstration of traditional handcraft techniques including carpet weaving, bracelet making, and necklace production.
As the sun descends, the desert shifts colour dramatically. This moment is unscheduled by design — guests are free to take in the landscape before the dinner and astronomy session begin.
A Bedouin host barbecues dinner in the open air while guests relax under the darkening sky. The setting is deliberately low-light to allow the eyes to adjust before the telescope session.
A professional astronomer leads the group to the telescope area, where a MAEDA high-magnification instrument is set up. Guests observe planets within the solar system and distant celestial objects, with the astronomer explaining each in plain language.
After the stargazing session concludes, the group is transferred back to their respective hotels in Hurghada. Total tour duration is approximately five hours from pickup.
