Amazon Adventure Into the Jungle: 4 Days at Amazon Peacock Paradise Ecolodge
Four days of river travel, jungle trekking, and overnight camping alongside the communities of the world's greatest rainforest.
This Amazon jungle tour from Manaus takes small groups deep into the Rio Negro basin for an immersive four-day experience led by local native guides who share the traditions, ecology, and wildlife of their home territory.
Guests travel by speedboat through the famous Meeting of the Waters, past floating riverside communities, and into a remote stretch of virgin rainforest accessible only by river. The journey culminates at Amazon Peacock Paradise Ecolodge, a secluded retreat surrounded by primary forest and teeming wildlife.
Activities span caiman spotting after dark, piranha fishing, sunrise canoe rides, jungle treks focused on medicinal plants and local fauna, and a night camping in hammocks under the rainforest canopy. Groups are kept deliberately small — no more than six guests per guide — so that every excursion feels personal rather than scripted.
Visits to families living along the riverbanks add genuine cultural depth, offering a window into a way of life that has remained largely unchanged for generations. This is not a theme-park version of the Amazon; it is the real thing.
Tour Highlights
Witness the natural phenomenon of the Meeting of the Waters, where the dark Rio Negro and sandy Solimoes River flow side by side without mixing.
Spot pink and grey river dolphins, a wide variety of Amazonian bird species, and caimans during dedicated wildlife observation outings by canoe.
Walk deep into primary rainforest with native guides who identify medicinal plants, towering hardwoods, and Amazonian insects including large spiders.
Sleep overnight in the jungle in hammocks fitted with mosquito nets, with dinner cooked over an open fire in a genuine wilderness setting.
Fish for piranhas from a canoe on the river and visit a floating fish farm housing Giant Arapaima Gigas, one of the largest freshwater fish on Earth.
Visit a local riverside family and gain firsthand insight into daily life within the Amazon basin, including river swimming in the traditional style.
Paddle out before dawn to experience the Amazon sunrise over the river while the rainforest comes alive with the sounds of its waking inhabitants.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Depart Manaus by speedboat, stopping at a floating Arapaima fish farm on the Rio Negro before reaching the Meeting of the Waters. Continue across the Solimoes to Careiro Village and onward by road and boat to Amazon Peacock Paradise Ecolodge, arriving for lunch. In the afternoon, take a motorized canoe out for dolphin and bird watching followed by the river sunset. After dinner, join a guided caiman-spotting excursion by boat along the dark waterways.
Rise early for a canoe trip at 5:30am to watch the Amazon sunrise and observe birds along the riverbanks. After breakfast, travel by boat to the trailhead for a morning jungle trek covering medicinal plants, native trees, insects, and — with luck — wild monkeys. The afternoon is dedicated to piranha fishing from the canoe, followed by an after-dinner night safari by boat scanning the river banks for nocturnal wildlife.
After breakfast, the group visits a local riverside family to learn about traditional Amazonian life, with a stop for river swimming on the return to the lodge. Following lunch, the group departs by boat to a jungle camping site where dinner — fish or chicken — is prepared over an open fire, and the night is spent in hammocks with mosquito nets suspended in the forest.
Breakfast is served in the jungle before a second trekking session in a different area of the forest, with the guide highlighting local plant and animal life specific to that zone. The group returns to the lodge for a swim and final relaxation before the boat journey back to Manaus, arriving at approximately 4:30pm.
