Exploring the Amazon Jungle 3 Days / 2 Nights at Amazon Peacock Paradise Ecolodge
Three days deep in the Brazilian Amazon, guided by experienced local naturalists along the rivers, flooded forests, and communities of the Juma Lake region.
This Amazon jungle tour from Manaus takes small groups into one of the most isolated stretches of the Brazilian Amazon, combining wildlife encounters, guided forest treks, river navigation, and genuine cultural immersion over three full days.
Departing from Manaus, the journey crosses the legendary Meeting of the Waters before reaching the Amazon Boto Lodge, a secluded base on Juma Lake. The lodge sits in a region that offers sustained contact with primary rainforest, black-water river channels, and a rich cross-section of Amazonian wildlife.
Activities are scheduled to work with the rhythms of the forest, with early morning departures for sunrise and bird watching, afternoon canoe excursions through narrow jungle channels, and nocturnal outings to observe caiman and other animals active after dark.
The group size is deliberately kept small, with a maximum of six participants per guide, ensuring that each excursion benefits from focused, expert commentary and unhurried access to the environment.
Tour Highlights
Navigate the Meeting of the Waters, where the dark Rio Negro and the sandy-coloured Solimoes River flow side by side without mixing for several kilometres.
Spot pink and grey river dolphins, a wide variety of Amazonian bird species, and monkeys during guided boat excursions and forest walks.
Observe and handle a live caiman under the supervision of your guide during an after-dark river safari, learning about this ancient reptile before its release.
Trek through primary rainforest with a local guide who shares knowledge of medicinal plants, Amazonian insects, and the ecological systems of the jungle floor.
Try piranha fishing on the river and visit a floating fish farm housing Arapaima gigas, the largest scaled freshwater fish in the world.
Visit a riverside family living in the traditional Amazonian manner and gain direct insight into the daily routines and knowledge of rainforest communities.
Experience a dedicated night safari by boat along river banks and channels, searching for nocturnal wildlife in the habitat where it is most active.
Itinerary
The group departs from Manaus by speed boat, stopping at a floating fish farm to observe Arapaima gigas before continuing to the Meeting of the Waters and crossing to the Careiro Village. A road transfer leads to Macafico Lake, where a final boat leg arrives at the lodge in time for lunch.
The afternoon programme includes piranha fishing, dolphin and bird watching, and a sunset viewing on the river. After dinner, a guided caiman-spotting excursion departs by boat, during which a caiman is caught briefly for observation and photography before being returned to the water.
A pre-dawn departure allows the group to witness the Amazon sunrise from the river while listening to the forest wake up, with strong opportunities for bird spotting. Breakfast is followed by a morning jungle trek during which the guide covers medicinal plants, insects, and animal behaviour.
The afternoon session takes the group through narrow river channels by canoe, exploring flooded forest sections where available, with sustained wildlife observation of birds, monkeys, and river fauna. A night safari by boat along the river banks concludes the day, targeting the many species that are most active after dark.
After breakfast, the group visits a local riverside family to learn about their way of life in the rainforest, including traditional practices and the resources the forest and river provide. There is an opportunity to swim in the river before returning to the lodge for a final lunch.
The return journey to Manaus departs after lunch, retracing the river route and arriving in the city in the late afternoon.
