Southern Coast Beach Tour: Bentota, Mirissa & Galle in 6 Days
Beaches, sea turtles, whale watching, and Dutch colonial heritage along Sri Lanka's southern shore
The Sri Lanka Southern Coast Beach Tour takes travelers across six days of carefully paced exploration, from the resort beaches of Bentota to the historic ramparts of Galle. Each stop reveals a distinct side of the island, whether on the water or deep inside a colonial-era fort.
The journey moves at an easy pace, making it well-suited for those who want a mix of beach relaxation and cultural discovery without the pressure of a rigorous itinerary. Dedicated time at each destination allows for both guided experiences and personal exploration.
Conservation, tradition, and natural spectacle intersect throughout the route. A visit to Kosgoda's turtle hatchery sits alongside the chance to watch stilt fishermen at dusk and scan the horizon off Mirissa for blue whales and dolphins.
Galle provides a fitting conclusion, where centuries of layered history are still visible in the grid of colonial streets, bastions, and the working community that continues to thrive inside the fort walls.

Itinerary
A representative meets you at Colombo Airport and transfers you to your hotel in Bentota, Sri Lanka's first planned national holiday resort. The first two days are at leisure, giving you time to settle in and explore the beach, the Bentota River, or the nearby water sports facilities in Beruwela.
After breakfast, check out and visit the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery, where five species of sea turtles are protected and released into the ocean. The hatchery has released over 1,750,000 young turtles to date. Continue to Weligama to observe stilt fishermen practicing a tradition that dates back to the food shortages of World War II.
After breakfast, transfer to Mirissa for a whale-watching excursion along a coastline known for year-round sunny weather and calm waters. Blue whales and dolphins are commonly sighted in these waters. Return to Weligama for your second overnight stay.
Check out after breakfast and proceed to Galle for a guided walk through the Dutch fort, taking in the Old Gate with its British coat of arms, the Zwart Bastion, the Point Utrecht Bastion, and the Dutch Hospital Shopping Complex. After the city tour, transfer to Colombo for your final overnight stay.
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before transferring to Colombo Airport for your departure flight. The tour concludes upon drop-off at the airport.
