The Vivid Green of Sri Lanka
Four days of rainforest trekking, river rafting, and lush countryside through the heart of Sri Lanka
This Sri Lanka green nature tour takes you from Colombo into the depths of Sinharaja Rainforest and on to the white-water rapids of Kitulgala, delivering a focused and rewarding four-day adventure through some of the island's most biologically rich landscapes.
Sri Lanka's southwestern interior is a mosaic of rubber plantations, tea-covered hillsides, and ancient forest corridors that shelter an extraordinary concentration of endemic species. The route threads through Mathugama and Kalawana, areas where the landscape shifts gradually from coastal lowlands to dense, dripping jungle.
The Kelani River, fed by highland rainfall, carves through granite boulders near Kitulgala, creating the kind of turbulent water that draws paddlers from across the region. The town itself gained a quieter fame as the filming location for the Bridge on the River Kwai, though its appeal today rests firmly on the river and the surrounding forest.
This itinerary pairs physical activity with genuine natural discovery, offering travellers a concise but substantive way to experience Sri Lanka beyond its beaches and cultural triangle.
