2 Days 1 Night at Juma Lake Lodge – Amazon Wildlife & Nature Immersion
Canoe through flooded forests, spot caimans after dark, and wake up to birdsong deep in the protected Amazon.
This Juma Lake Lodge tour places you at the heart of a protected Amazon reserve where river dolphins, caimans, and tropical wildlife share the same waterways you will explore by canoe. It is a balanced experience combining genuine wilderness encounters with comfortable lodge accommodation. Travelers looking for meaningful contact with the jungle without sacrificing rest will find this itinerary well-suited to their needs.
The journey begins with a river crossing past the famous Meeting of the Waters before a road transfer brings you to the Paraná do Mamori waterway. From there a second speedboat carries you deeper into the reserve, arriving at the lodge in time for lunch and your first afternoon on the water.
Throughout the stay, a local guide introduces you to the ecology of the Juma Lake area, from medicinal plants along jungle trails to the behavior of black caimans spotted by torchlight. Because Juma Lake sits within a protected zone, wildlife sightings are more likely here than in many other parts of the Amazon, though they remain subject to the rhythms of nature.
The return to Manaus on the second day follows the same scenic route, giving you one final look at the river system before the city comes back into view in the late afternoon.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Departure from the Manaus office by road to CEASA harbor, followed by a speedboat crossing past the Meeting of the Waters to Careiro village. A van transfer of approximately 60 minutes leads to Paraná do Mamori, where a second speedboat completes the journey to the lodge.
After lunch and a review of your accommodation, the first guided activity takes you out on the water in a canoe searching for pink and grey river dolphins. The guide explains the ecology of the species and the role of the protected lake system in their survival.
Following dinner, a torch-lit canoe excursion heads into the darkness of the lake to locate black caimans. The guide points out individuals and provides context on their size, behavior, and conservation status. Photographs are welcome during the activity.
The day begins before breakfast with a quiet bird watching session at sunrise. After returning to the lodge to eat, a three-hour ecological jungle trek covers medicinal plants, basic jungle survival techniques, and potential encounters with monkeys, sloths, and other resident species.
Lunch at the lodge precedes the reverse journey back through Paraná do Mamori, Careiro village, and across the river to Manaus. Arrival in the city is expected in the late afternoon.
