          Favignana is a small island in the Tyrrhenian Sea off northwestern Sicily, Italy. Known for its distinctive butterfly shape, it features dramatic limestone cliffs, turquoise Mediterranean waters, and the ruins of an 18th-century tonnara, a traditional tuna-fishing facility.           Favignana is the largest island of the Egadi Archipelago, located approximately 7 kilometres west of Trapani in northwestern Sicily, Italy. It falls within the Municipality of Favignana in the Province of Trapani and is part of the Egadi Islands Marine Protected Area, one of the largest marine reserves in Europe.
