          More to know about Hvalfjarðarvegur

Hvalfjarðarvegur is a scenic coastal route in western Iceland, stretching along the Hvalfjarður fjord between Reykjavík and Borgarnes. This region features dramatic basalt cliffs, deep blue waters, and access to geothermal hot springs nearby. Travelers drive the route to experience Iceland's rugged landscape, stop at viewpoints overlooking the fjord, and explore the surrounding volcanic terrain and small fishing communities.
Hvalfjarðarvegur follows the perimeter of Hvalfjordur (Whale Fjord), a glacially carved inlet located approximately 30 kilometers north of Reykjavik in southwestern Iceland. The route is part of Iceland's broader Ring Road network and connects to Route 47, the Hvalfjordur Tunnel. The fjord and surrounding landscape fall within the Capital Region (Hofudborgarsvaedi) of Iceland.
