Birgu é uma cidade fortificada histórica na região portuária de Malta, localizada na ilha mediterrânea a sudeste da Sicília. Birgu, officially known as Vittoriosa, is one of the Three Cities located on a narrow peninsula on the southeastern shore of Malta's Grand Harbour, across the water from the capital Valletta. It forms part of the Cottonera area together with Senglea and Cospicua, and is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage component within the wider Grand Harbour cultural landscape. The city served as the original headquarters of the Knights of St. John following their arrival in Malta in 1530 and played a central role in the Great Siege of 1565.
