Centro Region is Portugal's largest administrative region, covering approximately 28,000 square kilometres across the central mainland between the Douro valley to the north and the Tagus basin to the south. The region's geography ranges from the highest peaks on mainland Portugal in Serra da Estrela to a 200-kilometre Atlantic coastline known as the Costa de Prata, making it one of the most geographically varied territories in southern Europe.
