Itinerary
The starting point is this cable-stayed and bascule bridge over the Nieuwe Maas, completed in 1996. Solve the first challenge here before moving on to the next landmark.
The Wilhelmina Pier hosts both the former Holland America Line departure hall and the striking mixed-use tower designed by OMA. Clues at each location reveal the industrial and architectural heritage of this peninsula.
Once the headquarters of the Holland America Lines, this building provided temporary accommodation for European emigrants heading to North America in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Montevideo is a 43-storey residential tower whose rooftop M serves as a giant wind vane. Nearby, the Maastoren stands at 165 metres, making it the tallest building in the Netherlands.
De Hef is a decommissioned railway lift bridge that once formed part of the Breda to Rotterdam line. The adjacent Willemsbrug, completed in 1981, links the northern city to Noordereiland and Feijenoord.
The 40-storey Red Apple residential tower on Wijnhaven Island marks one of the final stops, followed by the historic City Library, whose foundations were laid in 1869 and which has served Rotterdam's residents continuously since.
