This quad off-road excursion in the Azores takes you on a four-hour journey from inland valleys to the rugged coastline of São Miguel's north shore, passing through some of the island's most dramatic and unspoiled terrain. Riders of all experience levels will find the route accessible, with a guide accompanying the group throughout. The minimum age to join the adventure is 7 years old.
The route winds through working dairy farms, lush volcanic landscapes, and stretches of Atlantic coastline that feel genuinely remote. Towering rock walls draped in vegetation line sections of the trail, giving the ride a cinematic quality that photographs rarely capture fully.
Key stops include the Miradouro dos Aflitos viewpoint, the grounds around Batalha Golf, and the coastal community of Ribeira Grande. The second half of the circuit passes through Coroa da Mata, Gramas, and Ribeiras before returning inland through Azores Parque and Mata Mulheres.
Fuel, helmets, personal insurance, and a professional guide are all provided. Drivers must hold a valid driving licence recognised in Portugal and will sign a liability statement before departure.

Route Itinerary
The group assembles at the Valados base, receives helmets and a safety briefing, and signs the required liability documentation before setting off.
The first major stop offers sweeping views across the northern hills and coastline. The route then passes the manicured grounds of Batalha Golf, a striking contrast to the volcanic terrain surrounding it.
Riders reach the north coast at Ribeira Grande before continuing through Lameiro and Coroa da Mata, where tree-lined volcanic trails define the landscape.
The route crosses open farmland through Gramas and Ribeiras, then passes the Parque Industrial da Ribeira Grande before reaching the landmark Portões Vermelhos.
The final leg threads through Azores Parque and the Mata Mulheres forest area, offering a forested cool-down before the return to base.
The circuit closes back at the Valados departure point, completing the coast-to-coast loop across São Miguel's northern sector.
