Ephesus and House of Virgin Mary Tour from Kusadasi Port
A guided journey through ancient ruins and sacred pilgrimage sites, all with no hidden fees.
This Ephesus shore excursion from Kusadasi combines the archaeological grandeur of one of antiquity's greatest cities with a visit to the House of Virgin Mary, a recognized site of Christian pilgrimage. All entrance fees, professional guide services, air-conditioned transportation, and parking are fully included in the listed rate.
Few destinations in the world offer the density of history found along the marble-paved streets of Ephesus. Once a powerful port city of the Ionian League on the western coast of Asia Minor, Ephesus drew traders, pilgrims, and scholars from across the ancient Mediterranean world. Its ruins — spanning Greek, Roman, and early Christian eras — remain among the most intact of any ancient city.
The tour is structured to make the most of limited port time, with a logical route that moves from the hillside sanctuary of the House of Virgin Mary down to the Ephesus ancient city and Terrace Houses, before concluding at the Temple of Artemis site. The small-group format allows for a more personal experience with the guide and at each site.

Itinerary
Your guide meets you at the port holding a name sign at the confirmed meeting time. The group boards an air-conditioned minibus for the approximately 30-minute drive toward the first site.
Located on the Aladag Mountains about 5 miles from Ephesus, this hillside chapel marks the site where Mary is believed to have lived with Saint John after arriving in 37 A.D. The Archbishop of Izmir declared it a place of pilgrimage in 1892, and Pope Paul VI prayed here on July 26, 1967.
Walk along the marble-paved Curetes Street past the Baths of Scholastica, the Library of Celsus, and the Temple of Hadrian. The Grand Theatre, originally built in the 3rd century B.C. and later expanded by Romans to seat 24,000 spectators, is among the most striking structures on the site.
Built on three man-made terraces on the skirt of Pion Mountain, these six residential units once housed wealthy citizens of Ephesus. The interiors feature preserved wall frescoes and floor mosaics. Note that the visit involves multiple steps and is not recommended for those with walking difficulties or a fear of heights.
The final stop is the site of the Temple of Artemis, one of the original Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. A photo stop allows visitors to view the remaining column and understand the scale of the original structure.
The group passes Gazi Begendi Park, which offers a panoramic view of the town, before returning to Kusadasi Port for drop-off and the conclusion of services.
