Tour Itinerary
The tour begins at Godafoss, a wide, sweeping waterfall on the Skjalfandafljot river. According to Icelandic legend, it was here that the law-speaker Thorgeir threw his pagan idols into the falls when Iceland converted to Christianity around the year 1000.
The route continues to the Lake Myvatn area, a geothermal hotspot teeming with birdlife and shaped by centuries of volcanic activity. Photo stops capture the surreal lava fields, pseudo-craters, and reflective lake surface that define this environment.
Dettifoss, fed by the Jokulsa a Fjollum glacial river, carries the greatest volume of any waterfall in Europe. Nearby Selfoss offers a contrasting, broader cascade that is equally impressive in its own right.
The canyon stretches for roughly 25 kilometres through a volcanic landscape carved by catastrophic glacial floods. Hljodaklettar features twisted basalt formations and natural acoustics that have made it one of the more unusual geological sites in Iceland.
Asbyrgi, a forested horseshoe canyon, is believed to have been formed by an ancient glacial flood and holds deep significance in Norse mythology. The Tjornes Peninsula cliffs are rich in fossils and serve as a puffin nesting ground during the summer months.
The final stop is the charming town of Husavik, known as the whale watching capital of Iceland. Visitors have the option to purchase entry to the GeoSea Geothermal Sea Baths, perched on a hillside with panoramic views over the bay.
