Bucharest's Armenian Quarter: City Exploration Game
Uncover hidden stories in the heart of Bucharest through puzzles, art, and history — at your own pace.
This Bucharest city exploration game transforms a walk through the Old Town into an outdoor adventure that blends puzzle-solving, street discovery, and genuine local history. No guide is required — your smartphone leads the way, one challenge at a time. It suits solo travellers, couples, families, and groups who want something beyond a standard tour.
The format is simple: each challenge you solve on the app unlocks the story of the location you are standing in, then reveals directions to the next stop. The difficulty is rated easy, making it accessible to anyone comfortable walking through central Bucharest for roughly ninety minutes.
From a walled monastic oasis founded in 1834 to the oldest surviving merchant house in the city, the route surfaces layers of Bucharest that most visitors walk past without noticing. Original street art, Art Deco architecture, and an intimate museum donated by a painter all feature along the way.

Itinerary

This red-brick church hosts an English-language Sunday service, a small fiction library, and a Sunday school, making it a quiet curiosity in the centre of the city. Look closely at the details around you to unlock the next clue.
Established in 1851 by Prince Barbu Ştirbei as a school for girls, the current building was designed by Ion Mincu in 1890 in the Neo-Romanian architectural style. The school is listed on Romania's registry of historical monuments.
Founded in 1834 by Mihai Darvari and his wife Elena, this walled skete was originally a private chapel for the Darvari family. Today it offers a rare pocket of calm amid the density of central Bucharest.
Painter Vasile Grigore (1935–2012) donated his apartment and entire private art collection in 2004 to create this intimate museum. The collection occupies two floors of a stylish Art Deco building accessible from Boulevard Gheorghe Magheru.
Built in the second half of the 18th century, this is one of the oldest surviving merchant houses in Bucharest and bears the name of its most illustrious owner, Iacob Melik. It now exhibits works by Romanian painter Theodor Pallady alongside European and Oriental furniture.
