Victoria Island and Arrayanes Forest Boat Tour
A journey through ancient forests, volcanic shores, and indigenous history on the waters of Patagonia.
The Victoria Island and Arrayanes Forest tour takes visitors across Lake Nahuel Huapi by boat, combining two of Bariloche's most celebrated natural destinations into a single six-hour excursion. This easy-rated trip is accessible to a wide range of travelers and requires no technical ability.
Departing from Puerto Pañuelo on the Llao Llao Peninsula, the route covers open Patagonian lake water framed by the Andes, delivering scenic views before the first stop is even reached. Both destinations — the Quetrihué Isthmus and Victoria Island — are protected areas within Nahuel Huapi National Park.
The excursion blends ecological diversity with cultural history, moving from a rare myrtle forest to a beach marked by pre-Columbian rock art. Guides lead walkers through well-maintained trails, keeping the pace relaxed and suitable for most fitness levels.

Itinerary
The tour begins at Puerto Pañuelo on the Llao Llao Peninsula, where passengers board the boat for a one-hour crossing of Lake Nahuel Huapi. The ride offers unobstructed views of the surrounding Andean landscape and serves as a scenic introduction to the region.
The first landing is at the Isthmus of Quetrihué on the northeast shore of Lake Nahuel Huapi. Visitors follow a scenic walkway through the Arrayanes Forest, passing Arrayán trees with their characteristic orange and white bark before reaching the Casita del Bosque at the trail's end.
After the forest visit, the group boards the boat again for the short crossing to Isla Victoria. The journey between the two sites is brief and continues through the same impressive lake scenery.
Arriving at Puerto Anchorena on Victoria Island, visitors begin walking the island's marked trails through native vegetation. The island supports a diverse range of plant species unique to the Patagonian lake district.
The trail leads to Playa del Toro, a beach composed of dark volcanic sand. Here, ancient rock paintings created by the indigenous peoples who once inhabited the area can be observed, offering a cultural dimension to the natural experience.
