Amazon Jungle Experience 6D/5N at Amazon Peacock Paradise Ecolodge
Six days deep in the Brazilian Amazon, where the rivers converge and the rainforest reveals its wild interior.
This Amazon jungle tour from Manaus takes travelers roughly 110 kilometers from the city into one of the most isolated stretches of primary rainforest in the Brazilian Amazon, where guided expeditions replace resort comfort with genuine wilderness immersion.
Guests stay at the Amazon Boto Lodge, a remote ecolodge positioned along the river system connecting the Rio Negro and the Solimoes, providing direct access to flooded forest, open water, and dense terra firme jungle. The journey begins with a speed boat passage through floating villages and past the iconic Meeting of the Waters before pressing deeper into the basin.
Each day is structured around a different dimension of Amazonian ecology: dawn birding sessions on the river, caiman spotting after nightfall, piranha fishing from motorized canoes, and guided treks through virgin rainforest where guides identify medicinal plants and track wildlife movement. The pace is moderate, suited to travelers who want substantive contact with the ecosystem rather than a passing view of it.
Accommodations at the lodge offer private suites with air conditioning, private bathrooms, and mosquito nets, and meals draw on regional ingredients including fresh river fish, tropical fruits, and locally grown produce.
Tour Highlights
Witness the Meeting of the Waters where the dark Rio Negro meets the sandy-colored Solimoes River in one of nature's most striking natural phenomena.
Spot pink and grey river dolphins, tropical bird species, and caimans on guided excursions across multiple ecosystems within the same river basin.
Trek through primary rainforest alongside an expert jungle guide who identifies medicinal plants, insects, and signs of primate activity along unmarked trails.
Join a night caiman spotting excursion on the river, where guides locate and briefly handle specimens for close observation before releasing them unharmed.
Board a motorized canoe before dawn to watch the Amazon sunrise over the river while the forest gradually fills with the sounds of waking wildlife.
Visit a floating fish farm housing Arapaima gigas, one of the largest freshwater fish in the world, and feed the animals directly from the dock.
Stay at the Amazon Boto Lodge in private air-conditioned suites, an ecolodge embedded within the forest roughly 110 kilometers from Manaus.
Itinerary Overview
Guests are collected from their Manaus hotel and transferred to Ceasa port, where the group boards a speed boat navigating the Rio Negro through the floating village of Catalao. The route includes a stop at a floating fish farm to see Arapaima gigas, followed by passage through the Meeting of the Waters and onward by van and speed boat to the lodge.
The first full afternoon on the water involves piranha fishing and observation of river dolphins and bird species from a motorized canoe. After a sunset return to the lodge and dinner, guides lead a night excursion to locate and observe caimans along the riverbanks.
An early morning canoe ride captures the Amazon sunrise alongside active bird species, followed by a morning trek through primary forest where the guide explains plant uses, insect ecology, and signs of wildlife. The afternoon is reserved for leisure or rest at the lodge before the next day's activities.
Mid-expedition days continue the pattern of alternating forest treks and river excursions, with guides adjusting routes based on wildlife activity and seasonal water levels. Meals remain centered on regional ingredients, and evenings offer the possibility of additional night excursions depending on conditions.
The last active morning may include a final birding session or short forest walk before guests prepare for the return journey. Luggage is packed and the group readies for the multi-hour boat and road transfer back to Manaus.
The group departs the lodge by motorized boat, retracing the river route through the Solimoes and Rio Negro system back toward the city. Arrival in Manaus is expected in the mid-afternoon, completing the six-day expedition.
