5-Day Istanbul & Cappadocia Tour with Flights
From imperial skylines to ancient rock valleys, two of Turkey's greatest destinations in one carefully paced journey.
This Istanbul and Cappadocia tour connects the layered grandeur of the Old City with the sculpted landscapes of Central Anatolia over five days designed for travelers who want depth without fatigue. Flights between the two regions are included, keeping the pace comfortable and the experience rich.
Istanbul's Sultanahmet district places you steps away from some of the most storied monuments in the world. A full guided day covers Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, and the Grand Bazaar in a sequence that builds naturally from Byzantine foundations to Ottoman refinement.
Cappadocia introduces an entirely different register of travel. Fairy chimneys, rose-tinted valleys, rock-cut churches, and the option of an early-morning hot air balloon flight create a contrast that makes each destination feel more vivid by comparison.
The itinerary is rated easy in difficulty, suitable for most travelers regardless of prior experience with Turkey. A cave hotel stay in Cappadocia and guided transfers throughout add comfort and continuity across all five days.
Tour Highlights
Walk through Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and Topkapi Palace on a single guided day in Sultanahmet.
Optional hot air balloon flight over the valleys and fairy chimneys of Cappadocia at sunrise.
Spend two nights in a cave hotel, a style of accommodation unique to the Cappadocia region.
Explore both the southern and northern circuits of Cappadocia, including Goreme Open-Air Museum and Pasabag.
Visit the Grand Bazaar and an Avanos pottery workshop for an authentic look at Turkish craft traditions.
Domestic flights between Istanbul and Cappadocia are included, removing transit complexity from the trip.
Climb Uchisar Castle for panoramic views across the entire Cappadocia plateau at golden hour.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
A driver meets you at the airport and transfers you to your hotel in the Sultanahmet district. The remainder of the day is free for a gentle walk around the neighborhood, an evening look at the illuminated domes, and rest before the walking tour.
Your guide meets you after breakfast for a story-driven tour of Istanbul's historical core: Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the Hippodrome, Topkapi Palace, and the Grand Bazaar. All key sites are within walking distance of each other, with natural pauses built into the route.
A morning transfer takes you to the airport for your flight to Cappadocia. On arrival, a local guide leads you through the southern highlights: Uchisar Castle, Rose Valley, Cavusin Village, and Love Valley with its distinctive fairy chimneys. The evening is spent settling into your cave hotel.
The day optionally begins before sunrise with a hot air balloon flight over the valleys. The main program then covers Goreme Panorama, Goreme Open-Air Museum, the pottery town of Avanos, Devrent Valley, Pasabag, and the Three Beauties rock formation near Urgup.
After the north Cappadocia tour, you are transferred to the airport for an evening flight back to Istanbul. A final transfer delivers you to your hotel for the night, with departure or optional extra nights available the following morning.
