Situated at approximately 720 metres above sea level on the flat Manchegan plateau, it lies around 140 kilometres southeast of Madrid and forms part of the official Ruta de Don Quijote European Cultural Itinerary. The village is recognised for its seven restored hilltop windmills and its position within the La Mancha Denominacion de Origen wine region.
