Klettersteig Casares
This via ferrata activity is located in Casares, a hilltop village in the municipality of Manilva, within the province of Malaga in the autonomous community of Andalusia, southern Spain. Casares sits in the inland foothills of the Costa del Sol, approximately 20 kilometers from Estepona and 50 kilometers from Marbella. The via ferrata route known as La Plana is set within the natural terrain surrounding the village, with the route culminating at the historic Casares Castle perched at the village summit. The area is characterized by dramatic limestone and schist formations, proximity to Sierra Bermeja Natural Space, and clear sightlines toward the Strait of Gibraltar and the North African coastline on clear days. Casares is recognized as one of the most scenic white villages — or pueblos blancos — in Andalusia, making this activity a dual experience of natural and cultural heritage. The region enjoys a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and hot summers, making the activity accessible year-round with appropriate planning.
