Estoril is a coastal resort town in the Cascais municipality of the Lisbon District, Portugal, situated on the northern shore of the Tagus estuary mouth approximately 24 kilometres west of Lisbon. Part of the historic Estoril Coast, it is administratively within the Greater Lisbon metropolitan area and is served directly by the Cascais Line commuter rail. The town is notable as the site of Europe's largest casino by floor area and as a centre of wartime intrigue during World War II, when exiled European royalty and intelligence operatives from multiple nations operated under a nominal Portuguese neutrality.
