Malia is a coastal resort town on the north shore of Crete, Greece, situated approximately 34 kilometres east of Heraklion in the Heraklion regional unit. It is notable for one of the three major Minoan palace complexes on the island, dating to approximately 1900 BCE, and for the nearby Chrysolakkos necropolis where the celebrated gold Bee Pendant was discovered. The area falls within the broader archaeological zone protected by the Greek Ministry of Culture.
