We will meet in Virpazar, a tiny fishing village situated on the shores of Lake Skadar. Leave the pier along a beautiful little channel fringed by reeds and willows. Breaking free from the canal will reveal the vast lake unfurling beyond.
Going left, under the Tanki Rt bridge through the fields of water chestnuts enshrouding the lake, you will discover the 18th-century fortress Lesendro – known as Njegošes sorrow.
Nowadays, Lesendro is a paradise for birds. Depending on the time of the year, cormorants, gulls, and herons, among many other birds, dry their wings on the fortress's walls while enjoying the sun touching their feathers.
You will see Vranjina, the island standing lonely and proud against the largest lake on Balkan Penninsula.
On the other side, the lake meets its largest water resource - Morača. A little further, you will be gliding through one of the two bird sanctuaries on Lake Skadar.
Three nearby islets and the view they hide will reveal why Lake Skadar is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Montenegro. The endless carpet, woven from white and yellow water lilies, and their large, floating, dark green leaves, will take your breath away.
Sights on your way back will not disappoint your travelers' thirst either. They might even make you wonder why you didn't book the lengthier tour in the first place. To keep you from crying over spilled milk, we will provide extra few minutes for you to enjoy the perfect wilderness around you while taking a refreshing swim.
