Summer Solstice Glacier Tour to Langjokull aboard Sleipnir Monster Trucks from Gullfoss
Celebrate the longest day of the year on top of Europe's second-largest glacier under the midnight sun.
This Summer Solstice Glacier Tour to Langjokull is a rare opportunity to stand on an ancient ice sheet during Iceland's most extraordinary natural event, when the sun barely dips below the horizon and golden light blankets the highlands for hours.
Departing from Gullfoss Waterfall, guests board the iconic Sleipnir Monster Glacier Trucks, purpose-built vehicles designed to navigate Iceland's rugged highland terrain with comfort and safety. The route winds through dramatic volcanic landscapes before ascending onto the ice of Langjokull, the second-largest glacier in Iceland.
Local guides share knowledge of glaciology, highland geography, and the rich tradition of Nordic mythology throughout the journey. The experience concludes with a stop at a glacier pop-up cafe, where guests can enjoy warm drinks and traditional Icelandic pastries while surrounded by sweeping ice-field views.
On the summer solstice, Iceland receives over 21 hours of direct sunlight, with civil twilight covering the remainder of the night. This late-evening departure places travelers on the glacier during the softest, most atmospheric light of the year, ideal for photography and reflection alike.
