Itinerary Overview
Guests are collected from the airport, port, or a specified address and transferred to the hotel in Izmir. The remainder of the day is free for rest and personal exploration.
Depart Izmir for Pergamon, visiting the ancient sanctuary of Asclepius, one of the most celebrated healing centers of the classical world. The route continues through Thyatira (modern Akhisar), a town in the province of Manisa listed among the Seven Churches, before returning to Izmir.
The group visits Sardis, the ancient Lydian capital and site of the oldest synagogue in the Aegean, then continues to Philadelphia (Alaşehir), whose name translates as friendship. An optional visit to Hierapolis allows guests to see the travertine terraces and Cleopatra's Pool before arriving at the Pamukkale hotel for dinner and overnight.
The day begins in Laodicea, a city with a notable Jewish community and one of the seven churches addressed in Revelation. The group then travels to Ephesus, where St. Paul preached in the vast ancient theater, with optional visits to the Tomb of St. John and the House of the Virgin Mary before overnighting in Izmir.
The final morning includes a visit to the Church of St. Polycarp in Smyrna (Izmir), the devoted student of St. Paul who served as protector of the city's early Christian community. Transfer to Izmir Airport is timed according to each guest's departure flight.
