Cairo Private Tour: Pyramids of Giza, Memphis and Saqqara with Lunch
Walk among the monuments of ancient Egypt with a dedicated Egyptologist guide and a private vehicle at your disposal.
This private tour offers a structured and informative journey through three of Egypt's most historically significant sites, centered on the Pyramids of Giza, the ancient capital of Memphis, and the Saqqara necropolis. A licensed Egyptologist guide accompanies you throughout, providing context and historical depth at every stop. The tour concludes with a mixed grill lunch before your return transfer to the hotel.
The Giza plateau remains one of the most visited archaeological sites in the world, and seeing it with a private guide allows for a more considered experience. You will walk around the base of the Great Pyramid, understand the engineering choices made by the builders of the Fourth Dynasty, and observe the Sphinx at close range from the valley below. The guide explains how these structures relate to ancient Egyptian cosmology and royal burial traditions.
Memphis served as the political and administrative center of ancient Egypt for much of the Old Kingdom period. Today it functions as an open-air museum where visitors can see a large recumbent statue of Ramses II alongside smaller sphinx figures. The nearby necropolis of Saqqara preserves the Step Pyramid of Djoser, which predates the Giza pyramids and represents an important transition in monumental architecture.
The tour is rated easy in terms of physical difficulty, making it accessible to most travelers. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, and the itinerary is structured to cover the main highlights without feeling rushed.

Itinerary
Your guide and private vehicle collect you from your hotel in Cairo or Giza and transfer you directly to the Giza plateau. The drive provides an initial orientation to the city and the surrounding landscape.
You spend approximately three hours at the Giza plateau, circling the base of the Great Pyramid and visiting the sites associated with the pharaohs Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaura. A stop at the panoramic viewing platform allows you to photograph all three pyramids together.
Descending toward the valley temple, you approach the Sphinx at close range. The guide discusses the figure's construction, its relationship to the pyramid complex, and the various theories surrounding its origin and purpose.
The tour moves south to Memphis, the former capital of ancient Egypt. The open-air museum displays a large limestone statue of Ramses II and a collection of smaller alabaster sphinxes.
Located 24 kilometers southeast of Cairo, Saqqara contains the Step Pyramid of Djoser, commissioned by the Third Dynasty pharaoh Zoser and designed by the architect Imhotep. The site also includes mastaba tombs used by officials and members of the royal court.
The tour concludes with a mixed grill lunch at a local restaurant before your private vehicle returns you to your hotel in Cairo or Giza.
