2-Day Private Tour to the Valley of the Kings and Luxor Temple
A dedicated Egyptologist guide, door-to-door transport, and two full days to uncover ancient Thebes at your own pace.
This private Luxor tour divides the city's greatest monuments across two carefully structured days, giving travellers the space to absorb each site without the pressure of a rushed group schedule. Day one focuses on the East Bank, visiting the temples of Karnak and Luxor. Day two crosses to the West Bank to explore the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut, and the Colossi of Memnon.
A certified Egyptologist guide accompanies you throughout both days, providing detailed historical context at every stop. All transport is private and operates door-to-door from your Luxor starting point, so there is no need to arrange transfers independently.
The tour is rated easy in terms of physical difficulty, making it accessible for most travellers. Walking surfaces at the sites vary, but the pace is set by you and your guide, not by a group itinerary.
Tour Highlights
Walk through the Karnak Temple complex, the largest surviving religious site from ancient Egypt, dedicated to the god Amon and his consort Mut.
Visit Luxor Temple, constructed during the 18th Dynasty under Amenhotep III and later extended by Ramesses II, who ruled Egypt for approximately 67 years.
Enter the royal tombs of the Valley of the Kings, where pharaohs including Tutankhamun, Tuthmosis III, and Ramesses VI were laid to rest.
Explore Deir el-Bahari, the mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut, a ruler credited with establishing some of ancient Egypt's earliest known trade routes.
Stand before the Colossi of Memnon, two enormous quartzite sandstone statues that once guarded the entrance to the memorial temple of Amenhotep III.
Benefit from private, door-to-door transport and the undivided attention of a specialist Egyptologist guide across both days.
Itinerary
Your Egyptologist guide collects you from your Luxor accommodation and transfers you to the East Bank. The first stop is the Karnak Temple complex, regarded as the greatest example of religious architecture in ancient Egyptian history and dedicated to the god Amon, his wife Mut, and the wider Theban triad.
The tour continues to Luxor Temple, originally built by Amenhotep III during the 18th Dynasty of the New Kingdom and later completed by Ramesses II in the 19th Dynasty. Highlights include the Obelisk of Ramesses II standing before the First Pylon. You are then transferred back to your starting point to conclude day one.
Your guide picks you up and crosses with you to the West Bank of Luxor. The first destination is the Valley of the Kings, the royal necropolis where notable burials include those of Tutankhamun, Tuthmosis I, Tuthmosis III, Ramesses VI, Merenptah, and Amenhotep II.
The tour moves on to Deir el-Bahari, the mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut, whose name translates as Foremost of Noble Ladies. The three-tiered structure is set against the limestone cliffs of the West Bank and is one of the most architecturally distinctive monuments in Egypt.
The final stop is the Colossi of Memnon, a pair of massive quartzite sandstone statues that once marked the entrance to the now largely vanished memorial temple of Amenhotep III. After visiting the statues, you are transferred directly back to your Luxor starting point.
