All-Inclusive Private Guided Tour of Diyarbakir City
Eight hours through the heart of Mesopotamia, with a local expert by your side.
This private guided tour of Diyarbakir takes you through one of Turkey's most historically layered cities, from UNESCO-listed city walls to the banks of the ancient Tigris River, all in a single, well-paced day.
Diyarbakir sits at the crossroads of civilizations that shaped the ancient world. Roman, Seljuk, and Ottoman influences are visible in the architecture, street plans, and monuments that line the city's basalt stone streets.
Your guide speaks your language and handles all logistics, including hotel pickup. This tour is rated easy and is suitable for most travelers who want a thorough introduction to the city without the burden of independent planning.
The itinerary covers seven major sites, balancing archaeology, religious heritage, and natural landmarks into a coherent narrative of the region's past and present.

Photograph the unique four-legged square minaret, a rare architectural form said to represent the four main sects of Islam.
Itinerary
Your guide meets you at your hotel and transfers you directly to the Tigris River. With a total length of 1,900 km, this river formed the eastern boundary of ancient Mesopotamia and remains a significant natural and historical landmark in southeastern Turkey.
The fortress includes an inner and outer structure with four historic gates: Dag, Urfa, Mardin, and Yeni. Its current walls date to the mid-fourth century AD, constructed under the Roman Emperor Constantius II on the foundations of the ancient city of Amida.
The museum has operated since 1934 and holds artifacts recovered from excavations across the Mesopotamian plain. Following the museum, you visit the Caravan Saray, a 16th-century Ottoman structure built by Vezirzade Hasan Pasha, where you can pause for tea or a meal.
Stretching six kilometers and rising 10 to 12 meters high, these walls encircle Diyarbakir in an almost entirely intact medieval perimeter. They are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and rank second in length globally after the Great Wall of China.
The Grand Mosque was converted from the Mar Toma church in 639 AD and underwent major reconstruction under the Seljuks after 1085, with the work completed in 1092. Adjacent to it stands the distinctive square minaret resting on four legs, a rare architectural feature in Islamic religious structures.
This Silk Road bridge was completed in 1065 and spans 178 meters across the Tigris River with ten arches. It is locally known as On Gozlu Kopru and remains one of the best-preserved medieval bridges in the region.
