Fátima, Nazaré & Óbidos Private Full-Day Tour from Lisbon
Spirituality, Atlantic coastline, and medieval streets — three of Portugal's most iconic destinations in one unhurried day.
This private full-day tour from Lisbon to Fátima, Nazaré, and Óbidos brings together three of Portugal's most distinctive landscapes and histories into a single, comfortable journey. Travelling in a premium Mercedes vehicle with a professional driver-guide, you move at your own pace without the constraints of a group schedule. The combination of a world-renowned pilgrimage sanctuary, a dramatic Atlantic fishing town, and a perfectly preserved medieval walled village makes this one of the most rewarding day trips available from the capital.
Fátima draws millions of visitors each year to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima, where the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary houses the tombs of the three shepherd children who reported Marian apparitions in 1917. The site carries genuine spiritual weight, and whether you visit for devotion or cultural curiosity, the scale and atmosphere of the sanctuary are difficult to overlook.
Nazaré offers a striking contrast: a traditional fishing village perched above the Atlantic, where the clifftop lighthouse at Sítio looks out over one of Europe's most powerful surf breaks. The village retains a working character that many coastal towns have lost, with fish drying on wooden frames along the seafront and colourful canvas shelters lining the beach below.
Óbidos rounds out the day with its intact medieval walls, cobbled lanes, and whitewashed houses trimmed in blue and yellow. The town became part of the Queens' Estate in the 13th century when King Dinis presented it to Queen Isabel, and the legacy of royal patronage is visible in its high concentration of fine churches and Manueline architectural details.

Itinerary
Your driver-guide collects you from your accommodation in Lisbon and departs for Fátima, approximately 130 kilometres north of the capital. The journey takes roughly 90 minutes via the A1 motorway.
Arrive at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima, where you have free time to visit the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, the Chapel of the Apparitions, and the tombs of Jacinta, Francisco, and Lucia. A short distance away in Aljustrel, the childhood homes of all three seers are open to the public and provide insight into rural Portuguese life at the start of the 20th century.
En route to the coast, you may stop at the Monastery of Batalha, built to mark the Portuguese victory over Castile at the Battle of Aljubarrota in 1385. The Royal Cloister is considered one of the finest examples of Manueline Gothic architecture in Portugal and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Reach Nazaré and take the funicular or road up to Sítio, the clifftop quarter where the red lighthouse stands 318 metres above the Atlantic. The panoramic terrace offers sweeping views of the ocean and, in season, of the enormous surf that has made Nazaré internationally famous. The village below retains its traditional fishing character, with market stalls, local restaurants, and a wide beach backed by coloured canvas shelters.
The final stop is Óbidos, a walled medieval town that has changed little in essential character since the 13th century. Walk the circuit of the castle walls, explore the narrow lanes lined with whitewashed houses, and look for the Manueline porticoes and ornate churches that reflect the town's long association with the Portuguese royal house.
Your driver-guide returns you to Lisbon, completing the round trip in approximately 8 hours from departure. Drop-off is at your accommodation or a pre-agreed central location.
