Path of the Gods: A 2-Day Amalfi Coast Trek
Walk the legendary ridgeline above Positano, then descend to Amalfi through ancient reserves and chestnut groves.
The Path of the Gods trek is one of the most celebrated long-distance walks in Europe, threading the clifftops of the Amalfi Coast high above a turquoise sea. This two-day itinerary pairs the iconic ridgeline route with a second day of mule tracks, nature reserves and medieval ironworks, ending in the historic heart of Amalfi.
On the first day hikers set out from Bomerano, crossing the panoramic terraces of Li Cannati and Colle Serra before reaching the cliff-edge village of Nocelle and its sweeping terrace over Positano. The more adventurous can leave the ridge entirely and descend 1,700 stone steps directly into Positano before returning by bus to Agerola for the night.
The second day shifts the focus inland and downward. A climb to Monte Murillo opens wide views over the coast before the route drops through a chestnut forest, crosses the Acquolella spring and follows the Giustino Fortunato trail through the Ferriere Nature Reserve, where the ruins of old mills and ironworks line a narrow gorge. The walk concludes in central Amalfi with time to explore independently.

Itinerary
The trek begins in Bomerano and follows the Path of the Gods through Li Cannati and Colle Serra, traversing natural rock terraces and wooden viewing benches suspended above the sea. After roughly 11 km and around six hours of walking, the route arrives at Nocelle and its terrace overlooking Positano.
From Nocelle the group returns via a scenic variant of the Path of the Gods back toward Agerola. Hikers who want an additional challenge can instead descend 1,700 steps into Positano and catch a return bus from there.
The day concludes with a bus return to Agerola, where the group spends the night. The total elevation change on day one is approximately 200 m over 11 km.
The second day opens with a mule track ascent to Monte Murillo for panoramic views of the coast, then descends along Via Sterrata through a chestnut grove and woodland to the Acquolella di Agerola spring. The route continues along the Pogerola path to the Fico a Noce spring.
The Giustino Fortunato trail enters the Ferriere Nature Reserve, passing the ruins of ancient mills, quarries and ironworks along an 11 km route with a total descent of 700 m over roughly eight hours.
