Mount Etna, Taormina and Winery from Taormina Port
Lava fields, ancient theatre ruins, and local wine on one unforgettable Sicilian day.
This full-day excursion brings together three of Sicily's most compelling experiences: the raw volcanic terrain of Mount Etna volcano, the sun-drenched elegance of Taormina's historic centre, and the flavors of a working Etnean winery.
Departing from Taormina port, you travel inland and upward to the southern slopes of Mount Etna, reaching an elevation of approximately 1,900 metres. The 2002 lava fields stretch across the landscape as a vivid record of the volcano's ongoing activity, and the panoramic views from Europe's highest active volcano are difficult to overstate.
A visit to a local winery follows, where a typical Sicilian light snack accompanies a curated wine tasting. The afternoon brings a transfer to Taormina's pedestrian uptown, where free time allows for an independent exploration of the ancient Greek-Roman Theatre or a quiet wander through one of the Mediterranean's most admired hilltop towns.
