Iceland Winter Knitting Tour
Seven days of wool, waterfalls, and winter wonder across South Iceland
The Iceland Winter Knitting Tour brings together hands-on textile workshops, UNESCO-listed landscapes, and the possibility of northern lights sightings in a single seven-day itinerary designed for curious travelers of all skill levels.
Led by Icelandic designer-knitter Ásdís, this tour blends the country's centuries-old tradition of handcrafted textiles with the raw beauty of its winter scenery. Participants visit working wool mills, plant-dyeing studios, and yarn festivals alongside geysers, black sand beaches, and geothermal lagoons.
The group stays at a remote countryside hotel with mountain views, outdoor jacuzzis, and sauna facilities — an ideal base for late-night aurora watching and evening knitting sessions. Reykjavík bookends the trip, offering time in designer boutiques and a farewell dinner to close the journey.
Daily workshops cover Icelandic LOPI wool, traditional Lopapeysa sweater patterns, and authentic knitting techniques. Whether participants are picking up needles for the first time or refining established skills, each session is paced to encourage creative confidence in a relaxed social setting.
