The 2026 Great Voyage Around Iceland: 10-Day Eclipse Expedition
Hike Iceland's legendary trails, witness a rare total solar eclipse, and forge bonds that outlast any summit.
This 10-day women's hiking expedition in Iceland is built around two extraordinary events: completing the full Laugavegur Trail through Iceland's volcanic highlands and witnessing the first total solar eclipse visible from Iceland since 1954, occurring on August 12, 2026. A professional local guide leads every step of the journey.
The itinerary moves through some of Iceland's most celebrated landscapes, from the geothermal fields of Landmannalaugar and the black sand deserts of Mælifellssandur to the glacial lagoon at Jökulsárlón and the birch-forested valleys of Þórsmörk. Each day builds on the last, offering a genuine sense of progression through the country's interior.
Evenings are spent in mountain huts and hotels, sharing meals with fellow travelers and recovering beside natural hot springs. Luggage transport is provided on hiking days, so participants carry only daypacks on the trail. The expedition closes with a morning at the Blue Lagoon before airport transfers on the final day.
