Snorkeling at the Molara Natural Pools from Puntaldia or San Teodoro
Drift through turquoise waters and meet the fish of one of Sardinia's most celebrated marine reserves.
This guided snorkeling tour at the Molara Natural Pools takes you into the heart of the Tavolara Marine Protected Area, widely regarded as one of the most biodiverse coastal zones in the entire Mediterranean. Departing from Puntaldia Marina in northeastern Sardinia, the experience combines a scenic boat ride with an immersive 50-minute snorkeling session led by a qualified guide.
The route skirts the coastline past the beaches of Lu Impostu and Cala Brandinchi before threading between Isola Ruja, Coda Cavallo and the island of Molara. Each stretch of water offers a different palette of blue and green, shaped by shallow sand beds and volcanic rock formations that shelter a dense community of marine life.
At the Molara Natural Pools, visibility in calm conditions regularly exceeds several metres, giving snorkelers a clear view of wrasse, damselfish and other reef-associated species moving through the water column. The group then makes a short stop at a cave on the island of Proratora before the inflatable boat returns to port. The difficulty level is rated easy, making the session accessible to adults and older children with basic swimming ability.
