Itinerary
Your day begins on the West Bank at this royal necropolis, where pharaohs of the New Kingdom were entombed in elaborately decorated chambers. Tombs associated with Tuthmosis I, Tuthmosis III, Tutankhamun, Ramesses VI, Merenptah, and Amenhotep II are among the most visited in the valley.
This mortuary temple, built for Queen Hatshepsut during the 18th Dynasty around 1490 to 1469 BC, rises in three colonnaded terraces against the cliffs of the Theban hills. Hatshepsut ruled Egypt for approximately 20 years and remains one of the most remarkable figures in ancient history.
These two seated statues, each standing around 18 meters tall, are the surviving remnants of the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III. They mark the entrance to what was once the largest temple complex on the West Bank.
Crossing to the East Bank, you arrive at the greatest religious site of ancient Egypt, built over more than 2,000 years by successive pharaohs. The complex is dedicated primarily to Amun, alongside his consort Mut and their son Khonsu.
The day concludes at Luxor Temple, constructed by Amenhotep III during the 18th Dynasty and later extended by Ramesses II in the 19th Dynasty. The temple stands along the Corniche at the center of modern Luxor city.
