Ischia and Procida Boat Tour from Sorrento
A full day on the Tyrrhenian Sea, discovering two iconic islands at a relaxed pace.
This Ischia and Procida boat tour invites you to spend a full day exploring two of the Bay of Naples' most celebrated islands, taking in dramatic coastlines, historic landmarks, and crystal-clear swimming bays along the way.
Departing from Sorrento, the itinerary balances guided coastal navigation with generous free time ashore on both islands, allowing you to explore independently or simply enjoy the scenery at your own rhythm. Onboard snacks and drinks are included, keeping the experience comfortable and unhurried throughout the day.
The route passes a series of remarkable coastal features, from the ancient Aragonese Castle of Ischia to the volcanic remnant of Vivara Islet near Procida. The day closes with a limoncello tasting before returning to Sorrento port.
The small-group format means you travel with a limited number of fellow passengers, allowing for a more personal experience on the water and easier access to the swimming stops along the Ischian and Procidan coastlines.
Tour Highlights
Swimming stop at the Green Cave on Ischia, where natural light reflecting off the water creates vivid green hues inside the rock formation.
Panoramic views of the Aragonese Castle, a medieval fortress rising from a volcanic rock and connected to Ischia by a 220-metre bridge.
Scenic cruise past Maronti Beach, the longest beach on Ischia at nearly 3 kilometres, with its distinctive thermal and volcanic backdrop.
Boat tour around Procida with views of Marina di Corricella, known internationally for its rows of vividly coloured fishermen's houses.
Passage alongside Vivara Islet, a crescent-shaped volcanic crater remnant and protected nature reserve flanking Procida to the south-west.
Onboard refreshments including snacks and drinks during the crossing, plus a traditional limoncello tasting at the end of the day.
Free time on both islands — approximately 3 hours on Ischia and 1.5 hours on Procida — for independent exploration at your own pace.
Itinerary Overview
The tour begins at the meeting point in Sorrento, where participants board the transfer vehicle to the departure port. From there, the boat sets out across the Tyrrhenian Sea towards Ischia.
Arriving at Ischia, the boat follows the coastline past Maronti Beach and pulls up to the Green Cave for a swimming stop in the naturally lit waters. The route continues with views of the Aragonese Castle and Sorgeto Bay before docking at Ischia port.
Guests have 3 to 4 hours of independent time on Ischia to explore the town, visit local sites, or take a ride on one of the island's distinctive three-wheeled Apecar microtaxis. The port area offers easy access to the main points of interest.
The boat departs for Procida, circling the island with views of Vivara Islet, the historic Terra Murata district, the former Palazzo d'Avalos prison, and the colourful Marina di Corricella. A swimming stop is made in one of the bays along the coast.
Participants have 1 to 2 hours ashore on Procida to explore the island independently on foot. The compact layout of the island makes it easy to visit the main areas within the available time.
The boat departs Procida and heads back towards Sorrento. Before disembarking, guests are invited to a traditional limoncello tasting on board to close out the day.
